SICE secures major contract for Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project

SICE has been awarded a major contract to support the delivery of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission project, one of Australia’s most ambitious energy infrastructure initiatives.

We will deliver the design, supply, testing, and commissioning of a state-of-the-art communications system connecting all substations and control centres via MPLS technology.

Located in New South Wales, the Central-West Orana REZ is Australia’s first renewable energy zone and among the largest transmission developments ever undertaken in the country. The transmission project includes a 90 km alignment of 500 kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km alignment of 330 kV transmission lines; stretching from the Elong Elong Energy Hub in the west through to the Barigan Creek Switching Station in the east, via the Sandy Lane Energy Hub at Merotherie.

Once operational, the transmission network will initially unlock up to 4.5 GW of new network capacity to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers, supporting NSW in its transition to net zero and strengthening energy security for the future.

This project marks a strategic milestone for SICE, entering the Australian energy market at a time of significant investment and transformation.
