SICE ANZ has successfully completed the Operations Management and Control System (OMCS) upgrade for the Hills M2 Motorway and Lane Cove Tunnel, two critical links in Sydney’s motorway network.
The upgrade marks the transition of both assets to SICE’s SIDERA OMCS platform, providing integrated and modernised control to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The Hills M2 went live on 26 June 2025, followed by the Lane Cove Tunnel on 28 September 2025.
The scope of the upgrade included:
- SIDERA OMCS platform: enabling centralised management of tunnel safety, traffic control, and operational efficiency.
- Control Centre modernisation: delivery of upgraded workstations, server platforms, and an updated shared awareness layout on the existing video walls.
- Digital Video Management System (DVMS): supporting faster incident detection and coordinated response.
- Telephony Management System: facilitating streamlined operational communications.
Together, the 3.6 km Lane Cove Tunnel and the 460 m Hills M2 twin tunnels carry tens of thousands of vehicles daily. This upgrade strengthens system availability, improves incident management, and enhances the resilience of these essential transport corridors.
In addition to completing the upgrade, SICE has entered into a Support and Maintenance contract for both assets, ensuring ongoing operability and performance of both assets through 24/7 technical coverage and dedicated engineering support.

The project replaced legacy systems with a modular SIDERA-based platform, enabling integrated management across both assets. The transition has delivered improved visibility, responsiveness, and coordination, supporting Transurban’s commitment to safe and reliable journeys.
