Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration, has awarded SICE a contract to carry out a comprehensive upgrade of the ventilation system at the Lundby Tunnel, one of Gothenburg’s key road transport infrastructures.
The project involves the modernization of the tunnel’s ventilation stations through the replacement of the existing axial fans and associated equipment, including frequency converters, silencers, control systems, and other components required to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility. The contract also covers all engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning activities related to the new systems.

Located in Gothenburg, the Lundby Tunnel is a strategic transport corridor for both urban and regional mobility in western Sweden. Stretching over two kilometres and carrying approximately 40,000 vehicles every day, it plays a vital role in connecting some of the region’s main logistics, industrial, and port areas.
The upgrade will renew a critical installation for the tunnel’s operation, improving the reliability of its ventilation systems and helping to maintain high standards of safety, availability, and sustainability for years to come. The new system will continue to provide both day-to-day environmental ventilation and smoke extraction capabilities in emergency situations.
With this award, SICE continues to strengthen its presence in Sweden’s transport infrastructure market and further reinforces its role as a trusted technology partner for Trafikverket in tunnel and critical operations projects. The contract also marks another important milestone in the company’s growth strategy across the Nordic region, where SICE is actively involved in some of the most significant mobility projects currently being delivered.
