Madrid is embracing a new era of smart mobility through SIDERA TRAFFIC, the innovative platform developed by SICE. This cutting-edge system is designed to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the city’s transportation network.

At the heart of the platform is the integration and management of over 650 traffic controllers from various manufacturers. Among them is SICE’s state-of-the-art controller, which features a standalone IoT module. This module enables real-time data exchange and supports the development of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), significantly improving connectivity across the network.

Both the platform and the controller are equipped with a Bus Priority module, allowing for more efficient traffic flow. They also support advanced traffic control algorithms—including expert systems, self-adaptive logic, and micro-regulation techniques—that help optimize traffic conditions and system performance.

The system also incorporates AI-powered computer vision, enabling features such as pedestrian and cyclist priority, pedestrian counting, and virtual loop detection. These capabilities contribute to safer and more responsive urban mobility.

The infrastructure is operated and maintained by SICE, certified at the High Level of the Spanish National Security Framework (ENS). This ensures robust cybersecurity and comprehensive monitoring of the entire system.

A key focus of the project is energy efficiency. The platform promotes sustainable practices that reduce environmental impact and make better use of available resources, aligning with Madrid’s commitment to a greener, smarter transportation model.
