SICE has been managing the control of Madrid’s urban tunnels since 2001. Although initially there were only 6 tunnels, today there are as many as 29 tunnels integrated within this project. The purpose of the contract is the maintenance and upkeep of Madrid’s urban tunnels, together with the Tunnel Control Centre located in the AZCA complex, which centrally supervises and controls all tunnel installations and detects incidents, as well as compliance with regulations. An additional 13 tunnels will be integrated in the coming years.
