Electrification of Rampa de Pajares
RENFE
SICE's work on railway systems began with the electrification of the Rampa de Pajares. Since then, and until the mid-1980s, the company has worked regularly with RENFE on railway signalling projects and level crossings, establishing the first contacts with the current Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
The relation was cemented in the 1990s when it began to work on the tunnels of the Spanish motorways. Those early projects involved the installation of signalling equipment and safety and fire protection systems. Soon, SICE implemented its own control software. Its hard and persistent work in this area positioned SICE as the leader in complete tunnel management. However, its projects with the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda were not limited to this area, but extended to installations and equipment for stations and airports, such as parking management or luggage control systems.
SICE has sometimes worked directly with the Motorways Directorate of the Ministry of Public Works, and other times with dependent companies (AENA, ADIF, RENFE).
