Reversible lanes on the N-II, Avenida de Portugal in Madrid and Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona.
SICE took part in a project for the General Traffic Directorate for the first time in 1986. It involved the installation of reversible lanes in various motorways. Since that time, and for around a decade, the company worked repeatedly on speed control projects for urban roads. However, the main project undertaken in those years was the optical fibre communications ring for the M-30.
Since then, the company has collaborated closely and continuously with the General Traffic Directorate. As part of the general plan to modify the infrastructures of Spain at the start of the 1990s, the DGT made a vital effort to set up working teams with the companies that offered their services. The target was to standardize the ITS equipment and facilities, so it was necessary to design and compare the standards for these projects to ensure road traffic safety. SICE was an active agent in this process.
With its constant focus on maximum efficiency and safety in traffic control, the experience accumulated in the planning of these and other projects has allowed SICE to detect and solve potential problems. The company places its knowledge at the service of the DGT, which leads to shared learning for improving, implementing and developing systems. This made the optimization of this line of business and its application to other international needs possible as well.
