CCTV and AVIDS Systems Engineer – Sydney

SICE’s main goal and attributes are to deliver clients with a purpose built solution that uses a range of in house and 3rd party technologies, interfaces and systems.


The Role

Currently, we are seeking an experienced CCTV Systems Engineer to join our project team based in Sydney. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role involves accepting responsibility to undertake managing, planning, configuration, system integration, testing and commissioning activities of the CCTV System and AVIDS (Automatic Video Incident Detection System). The current project underway is the motorway and tunnel project for Wextconnex M4E and M5N. Below is a brief view of delivery:

  • Final Development of the CCTV System and AVIDS architecture design package, including (not limited to):
    • Sizeable and redundant CCTV system based on Genetec software.
    • Substantial CCTV recording system based on SAN redundant systems.
    • Latest technology IP CCTV cameras based in AXIS IP cameras (In excess of 650 cameras per project).
    • AVIDS based on Citilog software
    • Integration with Video Wall systems.
  • CCTV and AVIDS implementation and configuration including:
    • CCTV IP Cameras: + 650 units
    • AVIDS system implementation
    • Integration with Control Centre Video Wall
  •  Comprehensive testing all stages and final commissioning.
  • Interfacing with cross disciplines and external information and documentation;
  • Liaison with client and third party vendors on aspects of the design and construction;



  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
    • Extensively experienced in designing and working with complex CCTV systems based on Genetec;
    • Knowledgeable experience with large CCTV recording systems;
    • Experience with AVIDS, in particular Citilog.
    • Experienced with implementation of Control Room and Video Wall systems.
    • Experience with all-encompassing implementations based in multicast and Layer2/Layer3 protocols such as: PIM, IGMP, etc.
    • Vastly experienced in FAT, SAT and site commissioning activities
    • Site/Technical support experience and the willingness to conduct complex troubleshooting tasks;
    • Office Tools: Word, Excel, Visio, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Optional Technical Skills:
    • Experience with OMCS (SCADA) and system integration;
    • 3D design tools: SketchUp.
  • Well organised with the ability to be methodical;
  • Problem solving ability;
  • Ability to work collaboratively, as part of a team;
  • Ability to work autonomously;
  • Ability to manage a small team of engineers;
  • Strong skills in documentation and quality processes;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Self-motivated.



  • B.S. in ITS, Computer Systems, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Information
  • Technology Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similar;
  • At least 3 years of experience in Planning, Development, Design, Integration and Delivery of
  • technology within ITS/Tunnel projects;
  • At least 2 years or more experience with Genetec Systems;
  • Experienced 2 years or more with AVIDS, in particular Citilog;
  • Languages: As a multicultural team daily activities are a mix of Spanish and Australian discussions, documentation and other various related project works. Spanish would be advantageous but not a requirement.
  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a current Valid Visa to work in Australia.
