SICE hosted a technical open day for the VRUITS project in Madrid on the 1st and 2nd of September.
The VRUITS project, coordinated by VTT and co-funded by the European Commission through its Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, aims to assess the social impacts of selected ITS and give policy and industry recommendations regarding ITS for the purpose of improving safety and mobility of vulnerable road users.
The second objective of this project is to give practical recommendations based on evidence on how VRUs could be integrated into intelligent transport systems, and how HMI designs can be adapted to meet the needs of VRUs, and to test these recommendations in field tests.
Two technical meetings were held in parallel at this meeting about the PT 3 work package: Evaluation of the impact of ITS and the PT5 work package: Adaptation and evaluation of innovative ITS applications.
A consortium meeting was held during the second day, during which partners took stock of achievements to date and exchanges their impressions of the work that will be delivered during the forthcoming period of the project. The plan for coming months is to start with the field tests. It was agreed to hold the next meeting in March, 2015 in Helmond.
