Our background
Generating added value since 1921.
SICE was set up in 1921 to develop patents and manufacturing procedures, exclusively representing the US multinational General Electric and the French Thomson group.
Between its creation and the 1970s, the company undertook major projects in the electrical-applications field, making a major contribution towards the development of this sector in Spain.

Those projects included the manufacture of urban and railway signal equipment, as well as street-lighting units.
In 1970 the company began to design and manufacture analogue-type electronic traffic regulators. This business grew so rapidly that in 1972 a factory over 10,000 square metres in size was built in Madrid.

In 1976 SICE used its own technology to launch the market’s first totally electronic digital regulator. By the 1980s the company was contracted to supply the biggest traffic-regulation system in Spain — for Madrid — soon followed by Seville, Zaragoza, Bilbao, and many other cities.

In 1992 SICE became a member of the industrial division of the Dragados (the other shareholder, with 49% stake was the multinational Siemens). The company then began a period of dramatic growth and began to diversify its activities abroad — growth that has continued unabated to this day.

In 2000 the Dragados group took over all SICE’s stock. The company is currently a member of the ACS group.

That is the story behind today’s SICE — consolidating and extending its range of products and services, with a volume of business and financial solidity that confirm its position as a market leader both in Spain and abroad.
