SICE and CYMI (both subsidiaries of Dragados Industrial), participate as leading technology providers in the consortium that has implemented the trolley-bus system in Mérida, Venezuela (Trolmerida), and is also participating in the construction and implementation of Barquisimeto’s trolley-bus system (Transbarca).

As a result of this experience, the two companies have positioned themselves as leading providers for trolley-bus projects in Latin America.

Cazable of implementing a comprehensive trolley-bus-based solution as a mass-transport system, SICE's proposal cover all stages of the project, including:

• Planning, conceiving and studying mobility and transport in urban areas
• Designing the construction project
• Building infrastructures and systems
• Information technologies and systems applied to public transport
• Financial consulting and support in the search for appropriate funding.

The scope included covers all the necessary systems:

• Civil works for roads, stations and yards
• Supply of trolley-buses and auxiliary vehicles
• Electricity substations, rectification posts and overhead contact line
• Ticketing systems at stations, integrating fares with other means of transport
• Operations-support system, made up of:
  • Communications network
  • Line management
  • User information at stations
  • CCTV-based security and PA systems
  • Access and parking control
  • Traffic-control system for crossings and regulation of traffic-light priority
  • Management-control centre
  • Automatic door system at stations plus on-board system
