The name ADIMOT is short for “adaptive multi-algorithmic optimisation techniques”.

This centralised urban-traffic control system is therefore based on the multi-algorithmic concept that supports the self-adaptive strategy developed by SICE after over 75 years’ experience in traffic control.

Overview

The ADIMOT system uses real-time information obtained from vehicle detectors. This information is continuously used to adjust cycles, splits and lags with a view to optimising a merit function based on delays and the number of hold-ups.

Adjustments can be made based on traffic plans, prefixed schedules or traffic plans generated or selected dynamically according to the traffic flow. With the ADIMOT system, SICE makes traffic more dynamic thanks to delays, lags and splits that use real-time information.
