Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAIH)
This system is used by water authorities to control their resources.
SICE makes this hydrological information system available for water authorities to facilitate their
decision-making with regard to water resources. SAIH is a tool to optimise the management of these
resources and forecast flash floods.

Overview
The objectives when implementing an SAIH are to:
- Automatically supply real-time information on significant meteorological and hydrological variables and the state of water-related infrastructure that could affect the control and operation of the catchment area.
- Make short-term forecasts about the evolution of the water levels and flow rates of rivers, automatically triggering alarms to allow appropriate measures to be taken to minimise the damage caused by flash floods and other flooding incidents.
- Make medium-term forecasts about the availability of water resources, with a view to optimising their allocation for different purposes.
- Control and in the short term optimise the operation of reservoirs, water capture, channels and mains supplies in the catchment area.
- Assure the coordination and use of common elements with quality-control systems or other hydrological-control systems that are either already in place or planned for the future.
