Based on a project in the framework of general actions by de RENFE-Cercanías, this company has begun to implement a passenger-control system oriented towards achieving optimal levels of versatility and integration of various urban and interurban resources.

The stations covered by this action in Asturias are:

• Oviedo
• Gijón Commuter Services
• Avilés
• Lugonés
• Mieres-Puente
• Lugo de Llanera
• Calzada de Asturias
• La Correduría
• Pola de Lena
• La Felguera

In the first phase of this implementation, RENFE-Cercanías has contracted SICE to undertake the following work at each of the above stations:

• Alterations at stations
• Electricity installation
• Voice and data wiring installation
• Installation of intercoms and CCTV cameras.

By executing of these works SICE will provide RENFE-Cercanías with the infrastructure it needs to install the various control systems for passenger access in a future ad-hoc project.

SICE, assuming the integrated management of the contract, thereby leads the execution and coordination of all the tasks necessary to equip the RENFE-Cercanías stations in Asturias with the basic installations that are needed in order to continue with its “Access Control Implementation Plan for the Asturias Commuter Core”.

The contract, which was awarded with a budget of €394,962.41, includes such tasks as channelling, demolition work, installation of interior and exterior walls, building of staircases, installation of metal structures and the implementation of automatic gates.

SICE, a company specialising in the integration of added-value systems, with extensive experience of the passenger-transport market, particularly in user-information systems, operations-support systems (SAE) and communications infrastructures with ground and on-board equipment, in this case is also providing a service to RENFE-Cercanías during the stage before the construction and installation of all these basic items, before undertaking the more specific tasks associated with its specific areas of business.
