SICE to provide a trolleybus-based transport system for Saudi Arabia
SICE to be responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a public-transport system for King Saud University’s Health Sciences campus
March 10, 2010 // Riyadh. Saudi Arabia

SICE is to be responsible for the project to build a trolleybus-based public-transport system for the Health Sciences campus of King Saud University in Riyadh.

The contract includes the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the transport system on the campus.

The following factors were taken into account when choosing a trolleybus-based transport system:

  • Innovative design and image
  • Zero emissions in the project area
  • High quality standards
  • Energy efficiency

The proposal contains a full solution, including:

  • Rolling stock (trolleybuses)
  • Energy supply and distribution
  • Catenaries
  • Traffic control with priority management
  • Equipment for stops
  • Coach yards
  • Control centre

SICE has worked in partnership with the trolleybus manufacturers Trolebuses Viseon, who supplied a one-off specific trolleybus design for this project.

The project includes a three-year guarantee, and the supervision of one year’s operations has also been proposed. To assure this service proposal, a partnership has been arranged with Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), who will provide operating and local assistance procedures during the first year, with the possibility of extending the arrangement for a further four years.
