The Danang Traffic Signal Project funded by the Government of Spain was approved in the middle of the year 2004 by Danang People’s Committee.
To the Project will apply new technologies for reasonable and effective control of traffic,
saving costs for our society, reinvestment and enhancement of traffic signal system.
The main components of the project are mainly focus on the traffic intersections of urban
routes and the belt of the city including construction and installation of:
- 77 traffic signal light groups
- 20 cameras
- 2 environmental monitoring locations
- Transmission cable systems
- Controlling and treating traffic information
- A 400m2 control center at the city police department
- Operation computing programs
- Training and handing over technologies
The whole happenings at intersections and at main roads will be transferred to the center for
treatment accordingly.
Based on received and transmitted data from cameras, these are proofs for the city police to
make decisions on penalty, or to arrange and manage safety and effectiveness of traffic in the
city.
With total investment capital of more than EUR 3,55 millions (more than USD 5 millions),
including ODA fund from the Gov. of Spain is 2,5 million EUR, local contribution is more than EUR 1
million.
The contract of the project was signed on February 08, 2007 between Danang Priority
Infrastructure Investment Projects Management Unit (Danang PIIPs PMU) and SICE (Spain).
At present, the Government of the two countries is reviewing this project in order to sign
Credit Agreement and the project becomes effective.
To promote the project for achieve the agreed progress, SICE has assigned engineering experts
led by Mr.Pedro Vazquez Quintanilla - Task Team Leader and Project Director to come to Danang city
from July 1- 31, 2007.
The team carried out surveys to propose technical solutions, detailed designs of locations of
installing of groups of traffic signal, cameras, cable system.
Danang People’s Committee has led Danang PIIPs PMU and the other relevant agencies to
mobilize local consultants to actively cooperate with Spanish experts on design the project’s
components.
Firstly, the project will be carried out in Tran Phu street (in parallel with Tran Phu street
upgrading project).
It is proposed that the contract will be approved and the two government will sign Credit
Agreement of the project on August 2007.
The project will be started on September 2007 and the project will be put into operation on
September 2008.
