Since 1921
On 16 December 2009 SICE’s subsidiary in Greece, SICE HELLAS MEPE, began work on the supply, development and implementation of the tolling system at the 22 tolling stations (six of them trunk stations) to be managed by the firm Kentriki Hellas Odos S.A. on the motorways that make up the 235-kilometre Central Greece concession.
The first of the motorways that make up the Central Greece concession is the section of the
PATHE motorway linking the towns of Skarfia and Raches.
The second is the E-65, which links the PATHE motorway (where SICE are currently implementing
the smart traffic and tunnel management system and BackOffice system for the traffic and tolling
systems) with the Egnatia motorway.
The project includes the implementation of an open-type tolling system.
At the end of the project SICE will have completed a total of 92 toll roads, 16 of them
reversible (with the option of enabling charging on either carriageway), and all with payment
either manually or by distance Rolling, with 28 able to operate in fully automatic mode with
payment vi automatic machinery that admit several payment methods, together with tolling equipment
for 21 tolling stations and 2 control centres, one as a backup in the case of disaster at the main
control point.
The systems implemented will be fast, reliable, adaptable and safe enough to meet the most
demanding requirements of any modern tolling system, provided by the SICE tolling system.
This project consolidates the company’s business in Greece.
