On 26 October 2009 SICE and its subsidiary in Morocco began work on the design, supply and installation of the tolling system for at the 19 tolling stations to be managed by the national company Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM) along the section of motorway linking the capital, Rabat, with the cities of Fez and Oujda.
The project includes the implementation of a “closed”-type tolling system, where the driver
collects an entry ticket when joining the motorway and pays only once at the exit, based on the
distance travelled and category of vehicle being used.
The works contracted include the renovation of the system currently existing on the
167-kilometre motorway section between Rabat and Fez, where there will be 6 tolling stations, as
well as the implementation of a totally new, system on a 320-kilometer section linking Fez and
Oujda, which will have 13 tolling stations.
At the end of the project SICE will have completed a total of 46 entry lanes (ticket
collection) and 64 manual-payment lanes, together with the tolling equipment for 8 surveillance
units.
The systems implemented will meet the requirements for speed, reliability, adaptability and
security that are necessary for any modern tolling system and provided by SICE’s tolling
system.
This project consolidates the SICE’s business in Morocco, where the company has operated
through the local firm Société Industrielle de Construction Electrique SARLAU (SICE Maroc) for
several years.
