SICE has been selected to implement the first Integrated Emergency System (SIE) in Chile.
This first centre will be set up in the Maule region, in the city of Talca, about 250 kilometres south of Santiago.
According to the most recent census of the region, the population is under one million, 220,000 of whom live in Talca.
The Project consists of implementing the SIE and operating it for four years, as the first emergency centre under a single emergency phone number. (In Chile, this number is 100.)
The Ministry of the Interior has premises in Talca with an area of approximately 410 square metres, where SICE will fit out workstations for 22 operators, 8 of which correspond to the emergency services: police, CID, fire brigade and ambulance.
The technological solution is based on the GEMYC-911 platform, plus a systems-management and hardware-development platform supported by a data centre.
The solution also includes the installation of backup antennas for communications equipment
and integration with the systems of all the institutions involved in the project.
This will optimise the efficient use of resources, by centralising information on incidents at a single administration centre. This will involve highly effective coordination between the various institutions that deal with emergencies, as well as allowing strategic decisions to be made based on the information compiled during an operations period.
This strategic importance of this project is considerable, because the results of this pilot
centre will be used as the basis for the implementation of the single-number project throughout
Chile.
