SICE awarded Physically Disabled People’s Foundation prize
The Aragon Disabled People's Foundation (DFA) awards its prize for the best technological-innovation project to SICE’s PARKONTROL system during the 13th edition of the Foundation's awards
June 10, 2010 // Aragon (Spain)

For the second time SICE and its PARKONTROL product have won the award for the best technological product developed to find a satisfactory solution to control parking spaces reserved for physically disabled people.

The prize-winning ceremony was held on 10 June 2010 at the Hotel Boston in Zaragoza.

In December 2009 SICE received the top prize for the same product in the R&D category at the Madrid Regional Government’s annual FAMMA awards.

The project applies technology to find a solution to a historical problem for this group of people: the difficulty in finding parking spaces for disabled people because they are occupied by unauthorised vehicles.

The control system for parking spaces for disabled people consists of a microchip that issues signals, attached to the parking card, to a receiver located o none of the reserved-parking signs. Whether the card is accepted or not, an operations centre is notified in order for the police to have effective control of the use being made of reserved parking spaces and take the necessary measures, in real time, as they consider appropriate.
