In early November a group of leading South American Business figures are made a visit to Spain, organised by the Digital Nation Foundation in Chile, together with the Consulting firm Everis, to “ make a 360-degree discovery of business innovation in its purest state.”
The visit, organised in partnership with SICE and Chile’s University of Development, took in
businesses and public entities in Madrid, Valencia, Santiago de Compostela, La Coruña, Bilbao and
Barcelona.
The first act was a reception given by Florentino Pérez, leader of the ACS Group and the
chairman of Real Madrid, who described the new Spanish innovation “miracle” that had surprised the
visitors so much.
The Chilean party then visited such firms as Telefónica, Banco Santander, Acciona, Madrid
Metro and — outside Madrid — Zara, Agbar and Mediapro, among others.
In the public ambit they learned about experiences by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and
Trade; the Madrid Regional Government; Valencia City Council; the Basque and Catalan regional
governments; and Barcelona City Council.
The trip to Spain ended with a audience with the Spanish King, Juan Carlos I, who is the
patron of the COTEC Foundation.
